Lower parts from Summit

I'm trying to build my 80 c10 on a budget. Has anyone had a dealing with the following items from Summit?

DJM flip kit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/dj...olet/model/c10

Classic Performance drop spindles http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cl...olet/model/c10

I already have a new pair of 2 1/2" drop coils and 2" drop shackles to add to this. Just wondered if anyone has any opinion of these parts.

Thanks

Re: Lower parts from Summit

Insidious86 had a lot of trouble from a DJM flip kit. I wouldn't buy it.

Yes please don't get a flip from them. So far I've had no issues from their spindles but I would recommend getting spring perches and welding them to your tubes and not worry about whether or not your diffrential is going to eject

Re: Lower parts from Summit

I can’t give you much of an input with use over an extended period of time on the spindles as I purchased the same a week ago and installed them however; I am having an issue with the tie rod ends not fitting in the slot. I called CPP rep and they are telling me that they are supposed to just fall in through the hole without any force and then the nut should be able to be put on, but mine are not fitting but half way into the hole.
i just took them off today again, not because of this issue (even though it will help me in diagnosing why they won’t fit), but i took them off because i cut my springs one full coil and it was too much of a drop for me. Also i was trying to see if the lean would go away if i cut my coils but it did not so i just picked up some new springs from summit. Anyhow regarding your question i will have to solve the tie rod end mystery and hope they work out good.

Re: Lower parts from Summit

I checked with a parts supplier I deal with and I can get the spindles and flip kit from McGaughys less than those from Summit. Any opinions of McGaughys?

I can't imagine much cheaper. 200 for the spindles and 220 for flip kit with c notch and shock extenders. I just wonder if anyone has any complaints with McGaughy

Re: Lower parts from Summit

My neighbor and I both have 2.5in McGaughys drop spindles and a DJM flip kit. The spindles and the flip brackets fit fine, just a little trimming on the lower control arms for 15in wheels and a little trimming on the u-bolt plates.

I guess I'm confused! I thought the 2.5 spindles didn't require control arm trimming only the 3.0. Maybe it's only the Western Chassis spindles

I have 15s on my truck and I had to trim the leading edge of the lower control arm. As close as the bottom of the lower cotrol arm is to the inside of a 15in wheel, I dont see how you could use a full 3in drop spindle. What I have notice is some spindles are labeled/advertized 2in drop, some are labeled/advertized 3in drop but I think they are all actually 2.5in drop.

Im thinking your right if you use 15/7s but 15/8s with a 4" BS will hit the LCA. I have CPP 2.5" drop spindles and have to trim because of my 15/8s but the spindles work perfect. I went with a Western flip kit and I must say it is a nice quality sturdy peace. But you have to buy drop shocks or shock extenders separately. Here is the western flip.
