Photos of my First 67-72

With some help from one of the members I was able to upload photos of my 72 GMC. Let me know what you think. I purchased this truck over 2 yrs ago. It took some time to make it road worthy, and now is my daily driver. I realize that there is some rust in the old girl, however anyone in the upper midwest knows that its almost impossible to find a clean rust free truck, especially a daily driver!! I have accumulated a fair amount of parts while I've owned this truck and with my experience Will eventually begin the process of redueing it. My plans are not to restore this truck, rather restomod it. I think I want to install a 5.3 LS motor, newer 5 spd manual. I have a A/C cab that I plan to install vintage air into. I want to keep the stock look, installing the upper and lower trim and two toneing this truck, the color it is, with a silver belt in the middle. I'm sure I will be asking tons of questions of all of you, and asking for pics and advice as I proceed forward. Let me know what you think

Looks like a good start. Do you know if that truck came out of grand rapids at some point?
Welcome, Eric

Eric, Yeah I hauled it 7 hrs home from grand rapids. I wanted a half ton GMC, and I fell in love with the color. I have a soft spot for these trucks, and had a weak moment when I seen it. Did you happen to know the individual that had it?

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I remember the truck when it was first done along while back. I know who the guy is. I ran into him about 2 weeks ago. He sold it awhile back, i am not sure who you bought it from. I actually sold him some parts for that truck.

Re: Photos of my First 67-72

Thanks for all the nice comments. Eric, the gentleman that I purchased it from owned it for a few years letting it sit and rot away. He said it was too nice to let go to scrap and that he wanted someone who would appreciate it as much as he did. He had plans to redue it at some point, but realized that he had way to many projects and wasn't getting any younger. I believe that he bought it from the guy you sold parts to. From what I was told it was a younger gentleman that had owned it (maybe a father-son redue) and he was given a newer vehicle upon graduation. So he sold it to the guy I bought it from. The work that was done to it was good driver quality, but not really up to my standards. Thats the great thing about these trucks, if you don't like something you can always redue it!..now you have me curious...what parts did you sell him for this truck?

Re: Photos of my First 67-72

I know i sold him some 4x4 exhaust manifolds. I can't remember if i sold him anything else. Boy, he drove that truck all the time and when it started getting rusty he sold it.
I would guess he is around 50ish now.

Re: Photos of my First 67-72

Hmmmm....that seems really strange. My truck has a pair of hedman headers on it now and has since I bought it. I think I would prefer manifolds but since it already had headers I wasn't going to change it back. How long ago was it redone? If you can remember. Its so amazing to find out the story of this truck. I was always kinda curious to know what its journey has been. I also drive the wheels off this truck. I absolutely love this thing, and the weirdest thing is It still turns a lot of heads!
