Pictures of a BBC installed needed
Looking to see what type of clearance I would have for headers in the future.

Re: Pictures of a BBC installed needed
A good friend of mine put a big block in his 65 Here is a link to his web albums with some pics of what your looking for. Hope this helps!
http://picasaweb.google.com/fritz199090 He moved the motor mounts to the front to give room for his HEI. |

The BBC fit great I had to adjust the firewall just a little . I used Sanderson headers no problems.

402 with stock big block truck manifolds, in a 64 C10, with big block motor mount perches from a 71. It moved the whole powertrain assembly about 3" forward in the frame. The perches and the engine bolted right in. I did have to shave the upper flange of the frame rail, similar to the 71 with a big block.

Re: Pictures of a BBC installed needed
What I have done is trimmed the top flange of the frame, using a '73-'87 frame as a template. Then you can use headers for a '68-'72, or '73-'87, or the Chevelle headers. Either way, you will not be able to use a mechanical clutch linkage, if you want to run a manual trans. You will be better off converting to a hydraulic clutch in that instance. If you choose the Chevelle headers, I believe the bellhousing crossmember has to come out.

H'mm I am going to run a 4 speed, so I am going to have to fab up something there. I am planning to use a 73 & newer frame so hopefully that will make a difference. |
