Re: ac compressor issue

Is it cycling when you have the controls selected to something other than the A/C? If so, then your control box in the cab may be messed up and it is stuck in the defrost mode, where hte A/C is supposed to cycle intermittently, to keep condensation down in the cab. Other than that if you have A/C selected and it is short-cycling, then once again LOW on freon.

Unplug the wire on the side of the accumulator pressure switch and put a jumper in it, if the compressor runs constantly, then you will need to look at the freon charge.

Re: ac compressor issue

If you have it set to defrost, it will cycle on and off. But, all my experience is on my '96. But low refrigerant will definately make it cycle. It's designed to do that.

Re: ac compressor issue

My 95 5.7 700R Silverado has issues with the low pressure switch flaking out and causing rapid A/C clutch cycling. After checking the refrigerant pressures and finding they are okay try replacing the A/C low pressure switch.
