Question about transmission part...

Stock 4 speed automatic tranny, what is that electrical connection called on the side of the tailpiece? Looks like two wires going into a harness connector, and a single-bolt flange that holds it all in place. I have a leak which seems to be coming from that area of the trans.

VSS sensor, Vehicle Speed Sensor. The big ones (pre 95) are bad about leaking.

Thanks for the info clinebarger. I'll see about getting a replacement.

Re: Question about transmission part...

It was a simple fix, I only replaced the O-ring on the sensor, as my speedometer was working fine. It was GM part # 15552872, cost $4.77 including shipping. Took about 15 minutes to install.
