77 Jimmy rear bench in a 72 Blazer
Guys,
First post on here. I just picked up a 72 Blazer and im trying to get hold of a rear bench seat. Will a rear bench from a 77 Jimmy fit. I have spotted one in a local pick n pull. What are the differences? Cheers, Jon |

Size wise it will fit. Doubt the mounting holes will be in the right place. If you're not keeping it original, the later Blazers had a fold and flip forward setup that gave you cargo more cargo space when needed....

What years are we talking? I still want to keep it fairly original looking wise. It currently has aftermarket racing buckets which i hate, with no back seat.

Re: 77 Jimmy rear bench in a 72 Blazer
I had an 88 K5 that had that fold up rear seat.... but I think it went back to about 84/85and up to 91. Depending on your budget, you can have any seat recovered with period looking materails. Houndstooth perhaps...
I would suggest you start a build thread in the Blazer/Jimmy sections. Take lots of pictures and post them. Add a description of what the plans are. It really helps others give better feedback when they know what your working with. |

As mcmlxix said, the mounting holes are in different places; but I've seen people have bracket converter things, or something like that, that allow it to mount. Not sure if you can buy that or if they are just fabricated.

Re: 77 Jimmy rear bench in a 72 Blazer
The folding Blazer rear seat came out in '78 when the rear floor between the front seats and rear seat was lowered for more foot room. The '73-'77 Blazer rear seat fits physically, but none of the mounting locations lined up on my '71. Rather than drilling new holes in my floor and adding under floor structure under the front seat legs I bought a correct seat from a boardmember. The '73-'77 seat has more square corners on the seat back and more square bends in the arm rest tubes.

I think i will end up selling the 77 then. I dont want to mess around to much. How much drilling is there to fit a 78+ rear bench?

The '78-up rear bench requires a little welding to integrate the floor fittings, but I'm not sure how well it fold forward since there is no recessed foot well for it to fold into:
