Truck audio set ups
Lets see some trucks audio set up. I am looking for some ideas on how to run a nice audio system. Lets here about what subwoofers you got and highs and mids. Lets see what's in your truck audio wise. Yeah I know there nothing like the sound of V8 but we need something else to listen to on those long cruises. Thanks everyone.

Do the kick panels get in the way?

Re: Truck audio set ups
Mine has a GM Thefltlok CD player modded for an ipod plug-in from a 1999 Blazer (looks stock so no worries about a break-in...that was my first priority), head unit factory EQ curves were wiped clean using a JL Audio program and line level goes to an AudioControl passive crossover. Two Alpine PDX amps (hidden in the factory center console running factory Caddy Bose speakers from an 08 CTS (yes, don't laugh....they kick ass when hit with some amplified power @ 2 ohms!) with two 3.5 loudspeakers in the center, a Bose tweeter in each corner where the stock 3.5 used to be, 6" mids in each door and a custom subwoofer enclosure holding (2) 8" Kickers. nearly everything is 100% hidden so it looks dead stock when you get in-then this sound seems to come outa nowhere---that's how I like it.

Re: Truck audio set ups
I'm running a JVC digital receiver... No more CD's all over the seat, I just plug in a 16gb thumb drive and I got all my music.
I mounted 5 3/4 Kicker speakers in the botton panel of the doors and will never do that again... I couldn't believe how much crap is in there... lol But I got it done. I also installed a pair of soundstream tweeters right below the dash, high on the kick panels... I'll try to get some shots later for you. For the sub I went with a 8" JL Audio Microsub ported box. Paired that with a MTX mono block amp... It fits perfect behind the bench and slams like a 12. Last edited by story; 11-16-2012 at 08:01 PM. |

Re: Truck audio set ups
84 GMC with dual 8" Bazooka tubes behind the seat, 8" woofers in the bottom of the doors and a 6" and 2" speaker and tweet on the top of the doors. I started the install with Boston Accoustic speakers in the doors, but have upgraded to Kickers in the bottom.

Sony stereo, Rockford Fosgate amps, 8" sub woofer & front speakers, Pioneer rear speakers. My son built the enclosure & shelf for the sub.

Re: Truck audio set ups
That is a pretty awesome enclosure/storage bin. Very nice.
On the topic here, I see most of y'all have the aftermarket standard headunits (not the types that use stock dash configuration). Whats the modification process to fit in a new headunit? Remove dash and make some cuts? Easy? Difficult? Worth it? |

Re: Truck audio set ups
Remove the Dash Bezel and cut the hole to fit. You also will have to cut the metal of the dash to fit the stereo as well.... I actually attached my stereo to the dash itself and cut the bezel to fit over it by making the mounting bracket sit back on the cd unit.
This make it for a quick removal of the dash bezel without having to mess with the stereo

Re: Truck audio set ups
Somewhere there is a plastic plate available that matches the factory bezel somewhat and has a DIN size slot in it. You still have to cut the factory bezel and metal supports behind, but the panel fits over the corner of the bezel with a nice clean looking fit. Damn if I can remember where I saw them though.
