Tahoe seating

I have recently obtained front and rear (third row from the Tahoe) seating for my K5 and wanted to see what others have done to mount them. I have seen enough from the forum to know that the fronts need to be bracketed or built up so they don't tear out the floor but am not quite sure as to what I need to do.

For the third row, I know you can buy brackets but I've been leaning towards the idea of going and picking up flooring from the Tahoe third row area and grafting that in instead so they will mount flush with the floor. What is everyone's thoughts that route?

I would use the brackets for the rear. Real easy to install and work great. I welded up some plate steel brackets for the fronts, worked well too. I arranged the front brackets to pick up the original bolt holes in the floor as they are reinforced. I used Escalade seats but the tahoe seats should be the same.

Install looks really clean Evan! How do the brackets hold up in the back? Did you have to raise them up or just direct install? I have heard some say they have had to stack washers to get them sitting up high enough.

I don't have the means to weld up the front brackets myself but the ones you made look awesome! I'm going to see if a buddy of mine can replicate them and go from there.

These ones seem to be taller than others I've seen and show it mounted on flat surfaces.. Looks like I need to make and order.

Yeah, those are the ones. They come with little spacers to put in the deep strips of the bed so you dont have to stack washers.

The brackets being mounted above the floor give you a bit more leg room. If you were to flush mount with a tahoe floor section, they would be too low for comfort as there is no leg well like on a tahoe.

So my brackets are in.. Was wondering if you bolted your seats in with the provided bolts? Looks like I am just supposed to drill a hole and bolt put the nuts on the underside? Let me know how you did it. Thanks again for all of your help!

I used the supplied bolts. I put the bolt in thru the top and taped a wrench to the floor holding the bolt, then went underneath and installed the nut. Tape the wrench so that it hits up against the bracket when you go to tighten it so it wont rip the tape off and turn.

I used the tall 3rd row seat brackets from a guy on ebay, they were well made.

If I were to do it again, I would build a platform "like" bracket like 29od1, he did a thread on this. The trade off is about a 1" increase on the rear seat height (head clearance is more my concern). I did used some washers to help fill in the valleys of the floor. I have some pics on my build thread as well.

I really like the seats in my truck as far as comfort goes.
