need some info please
I have a 72 c10 longbed. 350 4spd"granny" low. Hate it! What are my options as far as swapping trans with a 4spd from 60's-70's chevy car? Camero or chevelle? Or should i just swap the rear end with one from a auto truck with dif gears? If thats the way to go, what ring gear should i look for? Any help is appricated!! Thanks.

what gears are in it now, I would just buy new gears.....unless you had the leaf springs of already cause it can be a pain to get the rear axel off.

Re: need some info please
It has 4.11 and coil springs in the rear. I'm looking to have a longer 2nd and 3rd gear and lower rpm's on highway. It also has 31/10.5/15's on it. Gonna swap those to 225/70/15 up front and 275/60/15's in back. I don't like not being able to use 1st gear. Never gonna haul anything in it,just a crusier. I have a 98 silverado for my work truck. My rpm's are @ 2000 @ 40mph. Screams on the highway. Thanks for the reply!

Sounds like to me you really just dont like the tranny, I would just change it out for maybe a 5sp or 6sp , that granny low is just for real heavy loads or going real slow.

Re: need some info please
You change your rear gearing to 3.08's which would help on the highway. A M22 Muncie would give you a straight 4 speed but 4th is still the same 1:1 ratio as your SM465. Otherwise you could leave the rear gears as is and put in a NV3500 from a 90's 1500 W/T which would give you overdrive.
