Any of you guys running pizza cutters?

I hope to be picking up a 85 4x4 short bed and I have always liked the pizza cutter look. Any of you guys running skinny mud tires? If so post up some pics or point me to an existing thread.

Skinny MTs aren't so easy to find. Personally, I'd like to see a 35x9.5 or 36x9.5...and not a Swamper.

i have got 235 65 16 brg at's on my c20 or close there too. i would think that is the smallest with you could go on these trucks i like it as i can get anywhere in the snow and mud. idk how tall you are looking for tho

235/85-16 mastercraft courser mt its around 31" but skinny i got them on my truck

Might be hard to find current examples. Tall lumpy ag tires are kind of out. In the late 80's-early 90's more and more application specific tires became available that were more reliable and effective than the other stuff people had been using. Even in competition high floatation has kind of taken over. Not to say it isn't cool to see a truck on tall tires, it's just not something you see a lot of.

I run 33x10.5's on my 4x4 72 blazer, but I never really considered them "skinny". It's as narrow of a tire in the 33" size that BFG AT's offer, and that size isn't offered from most other tire manufactures either. It's about as skinny and tall of a modern style radial tire you'll find.

I wasn't after the old school skinny look though. I needed a 33" tire and didn't want steam rollers that would kill gas mileage, not to mention they would stick too far out of the fenders in the front for my liking.

I can't stand Boggers. Not only do they wear horribly, but they cut and chunk easily around here.

That's not a tire designed for alot of pavement use anyway. They aren't called "all terrains" for a reason

Yep, MT's are scarce in a tall/skinny size. Firestone used to make a knobby MT tire that was 33x10.5 but that's long gone and only available in a 12.5" wide tire now.

BFG is the only radial MT that I know of still making the 33x10.5's, I run the AT version of this tire.

Getting into the 35-36" skinny tires you mention would more likely be bias ply stuff.

I know Coker tire and possibly Kelsey Hays are reproducing alot of these tires now for the old military vehicles (friend runs a set on his jeep). Might be something to look at if you don't mind bias plys.

That look is okay too. Alot of the wide tire look on 4x4's around here.

I didn't want the associated drag that comes with it though, along with tires sticking past the fenders and throwing debri on the truck.

I think it was mentioned, but floatation doesn't sound like a good idea either when you really need to dig in and get out...but wide does look good.

Pizza cutter options are kind of scarce, but they are out there.

235/85R16s are common, measure out to 31.7x9.25
255/85R16 is a little less common, but out there, measures 33x10
33x10.5x15s are still out there by BFG and a few others
Q78s are about 36x11 IIRC
39x13.5 38.5x11 40x13.5 are out there,
Military 9R16 and 11R16 measure out 36" and 38" respectively, and are narrow

Heck, even the laughable 205/80R16s (29x8) I had on my Mazda (Beside a 315/75R16 of the same tread pattern)


I considered the 37x12.5s I ran for a couple weeks pizza cutters as well, well compared to my 38x15.5s for sure.
