New from Houston area.

Hey guys, I'm Stephen. I have an '81 C10 SWB. Got it all stock when I started driving. Did a 3/4 drop first. Blew up the 305 couple years after. As it sits, it's 6/8 dropped with a crate 350. Next in the plans are to lower it 2 more inches, do the interior, then save for a billet 20/22 combo. Then of course LS swap it.
On to pictures:
Current:

And my car:

Re: New from Houston area.

Are you going to bag it? I had a truck as low as you are fixing to go and it was horrible without bags. I would recommend riding around with someone who has a truck that low to get an idea of how much of a pain it is to drive. I think it looks sick right now. Save your $ for the wheels/ls swap. Trust me there done that and regretted it. Looks like you have a sweet start so far!

Re: New from Houston area.

I know what I'm getting into with how low it's going. There's dudes all over Houston in stanced cars running a couple inches or lower off the ground. I plan on doing coilovers up front to stiffen the ride. I'm slammed right now, but I want to be lower than pretty much anyone else with a squarebody. Bags are cool and all and I'm sure i'll have a truck with them someday, but not on this truck. I want this one to be more of a hardcore static with a big LS swap tucking nasty billets truck. I already sit 4" of the ground, my control arms are 3".

there also half the weight and length of yours. Speedbumps start tearin up your headers real quick with no adjustability..

just get the correct coil springs and adjustable shock for what you want, coil overs are more of a hassle and won’t do what your trying to do with your truck

that screams bags and body drop..

big wheels you will have to raise your truck to be able to turn, so you won’t be able to be as low as you are now. Totally agree with you though, a powerful motor and billet wheels make anything “nasty!!”
You definitely have the right plan ahead of you! I see bags in your future though..

Keep the pics comin, diggin the camo hood!

Re: New from Houston area.

I refuse to bag this one. As long as I build it right, a coilover setup in front will do what I'm wanting it to do. I'll probably end up doing a dropmember with coilovers eventually, I just can't justify spending that much money for it. I'd rather section the factory crossmember for a little clearance. My headers already have dents and whatnot from hitting things, I'm going to run shorties and get the exhaust tucked above the frame rails. Speedbumps are just going to have to be avoided. I'll still be able to turn, it's all about wheel offset.
Going sort of for this look, except staggered 20/22s.

Re: New from Houston area.

It's 9/12 static dropped. The Drop Shop built it.
Here's the feature: http://www.truckinweb.com/features/1...erado_2500_hd/

Re: New from Houston area.

Figured out how I'll do the front end 2" lower. Section 1.5" out of the crossmember so my control arms don't get any lower. Then trim the springs down another .5". And section 1" out of the middle to narrow the track width to retain, hopefully, full turning radius without hitting the fenders. I just need a welder and an extra crossmember now. May end up needing adjustable QA1 shocks or something to stiffen the ride though.

Re: New from Houston area.

There is no way that is a daily.

Most likely only built for that mag picture.

Those front fenders are too far over those wheels, try parking in a food store or any parking lot. 12 point turns…

That is not a daily.

Re: New from Houston area.

That's why I'm going to narrow my track width. It's all about offset at that point. I may not retain lock to lock steering radius, but it won't be terrible after the fenders get rolled and maybe even pulled out a little bit.

Just because the wheels are tucked doesn't mean it won't turn. I don't know about daily driven, but that truck is very well known, static dropped only and goes all over the place. Google the Drop Shop...or check out RGVtruckperformance.net. They have built a bunch of them like that.
