Re: is it wrong
OK by me. You should make it your own. That way the next person to own can change it back and make it there own.

Heck,no! Build your truck the way you like it! I'm thinking the same thing for my '71. I like the bowties better too!

Re: is it wrong
Do to your truck whatever makes you happy. My '67 swb stepper has parts from 62, 68, 69, 70, 71 and 74. The steering wheel is from an unknow year Chevy car.
Plus many new parts.

Re: is it wrong
It's only wrong if you don't own the truck. If it's yours, build it the way you want.

Re: is it wrong
Only time it would be wrong is if you were doing a complete original restoration to stock. If you intend to keep the truck do as you please. Most of us have made changes as you can see by the posts.
One thing I usually tell owners of older vehicle is not to go extreme if they intend to sell in the future. It's harder to sell a highly modified truck or car. The market shrinks considerably.

Re: is it wrong
do whatever you like! Nothing wrong with that at all. In fact, I've struggled with the original vs different year dilemma as well... I LOVE the old 67-ish Custom Camper emblems but they went away before my 71 ever rolled down the assembly line, so there ya go. But I am going to stick with original emblems for my case.
Here's a thought though, and it might be cool: paint the bowtie the correct blue vice the original red. 67-8 had red bowties, 69-72 had blue, and 73+ had gold. So, if you like the 67 emblem but are struggling with putting it on a 72, jut match the blue bowtie paint and call it a day, the best of both worlds. |

Re: is it wrong
Shyguy - Sorry to hijack this thread but is that a 72 front bumper on a 67/68 slant nose front end? I like the openings where the signal lights usually go. Gives it cool sporty appearance. Nice way to mix it up to get a unique look.

Custom 20? You'll have Custom Bowties!
Is it wrong I have '70 Chevy hubcaps on my '68 GMC? Na, I think they look great.
