How well can it ride and steer? Cpp

On my 67, I'm considering Cpp products. I was gonna do a whole front end rebuild kit, full disc brake kit, every body mount and bushings replaced front and rear, and 5/7 drop using front and rear sway bars and upgraded trac bar. Can anyone give me a comparison of how well it will ride and steer vs newer trucks? If I pay about 3500$ for parts,I'd expect it to ride like a caddy. Thanks

Id personally be looking into Porterbuilt stuff for that kind of money. Seems like a lot more money than you really "need" to spend tho.

I used CPP on my truck, and it really rides great! Also new A-arm bushings, upper lower ball joints, sway and track bar! Really pleased with it!

Re: How well can it ride and steer? Cpp

That kind of money? The majority of the money is for a complete $1600 brake kit. My truck has drums front and rear so its the best route for me. The total suspension may be around $800, Thats nowhere near the cost of porterbuilts products.I dont need air ride because of the cost and im more of a hot rod guy. I really like the autocross trucks by no limit. I just need my truck to ride like a new vehicle because when im finished, itll be my daily. Thanks guys

When you get done with the new components it will ride like a new truck!
It may not be the right year truck though!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

in my perosnall experiences in any cadi I have been in, they all ride like a freakin schooner out on the ocean. I would be very mad if anything I drove felt like a soft floaty uncontrollable land yacht.
What type of ride are you really looking for? Corvette? Carve some corners? Not too stiff, not soft and sloppy like a cadi? A rebuild with new bushings, new coils, new rear leafs w/new bushings will make your truck ride like it did from the factory. Add some adjustable shocks and get it more tuned to the way you might like it.
Personally I like to be able to swerve around an object at 45 mph and not fishtail, rear end come out or other wards slide off the road and crash. That’s not a cadi or a corvette ride, that’s “safe”.

You can really do a lot with a good agressive alignment, good shocks, and drop spindles.
Even if you spend a ton of money on a racecar chassis if you don't know how to set it up its not going to perform.

It's all about compromise. Real good ride will make it mushy around corners. Real good around corners will make it ride rough. You can however make it ride pretty good and corner better than the truck that it is. My truck rides and corners better than my buddy's Chevelle but that's not a Caddy.

Re: How well can it ride and steer? Cpp

In my opinion, if you want it to ride like a caddy, buy a caddy.

Its a truck! You can always improve general components that are older and probably need replacing anyways to improve it .. but its a truck! let it ride like one

Re: How well can it ride and steer? Cpp

look at no limits rack and pinion. probably for the price of all the steering components you will be close to the same price. R&p is sooo much nicer
