Big-truck style air suspension?

Good morning all. I recently acquired a truck load of new old stock Firestone & Goodyear air bags from a trucking company that closed their doors.



I am thinking really hard about replacing the leaf springs on the rear of my '82 CC dually with a set of boxed trailing arms off the front leaf spring mounts & mount a pair of the tall canister-style air bags behind the axle, similar to what the current Ford F650's have. I've been searching through old posts all morning and everything I have found were lowered 4-link setups with c-notches and bags mounted in the c-notch. I love the way the lowered trucks look but I personally want to keep a near-stock ride height & still be able to take the truck out through the pasture, across ditches, etc.

Has anybody ever done a setup like I want to build on a square bodies dually? I am shooting for a smooth ride (loaded & empty), self-leveling, & the ability to raise/lower the rear of the truck for easy hookup to trailers.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. If it would ride rough & bounce a lot I'd sure like to know now before I dive into it.

Air suspension systems don't have to ride low at all. It's all about where you mount the bags via their brackets. Don't want it low? Just mount the top bracket lower (towards the ground) on the frame and use over the axle or on top of the trailing arm lower mounting brackets. Use the same type of reasoning on the front.
