Re: would like to see some pics of rear mounted fuel tanks
I am going with a generic tank from RCI. My bed will be raised, so I have some room to play with.

Re: would like to see some pics of rear mounted fuel tanks
Here is a link to the 84 blazer tank we used on my 66 gmc. This was a std carb fuel tank and it ended up with a in the tank fuel pump for my TBI 350 after we experienced lots of failures with in line pumps. cost of tank $200.00 sending unit and straps included (new) Kieth

Re: would like to see some pics of rear mounted fuel tanks
I have a aluminum tank from Performance online (I'm pretty positive that POL, ECE, and CPP all sell the exact same tank made by the same company) and I am very pleased with it. It doesn't hang down bad at all, even for a c-notched and bagged truck. If you can catch one on eBay from POL I believe that they are still $499 with the sending unit and everything else you need to install. Good deal for the $$ and they look awesome!

Re: would like to see some pics of rear mounted fuel tanks
I had a metal shop cut and break some 1/8" aluminum that a buddy welded up for me with a couple bungs and a threaded filler neck. 20 gallon capacity, modified one bed crossmember so it can sit a little above the frame.

Just for the record the ECE tanks are stainless steel, not aluminum. They cost a little more but well worth it.

Re: would like to see some pics of rear mounted fuel tanks
Not trying to be a smartass, but why would you want a stainless tank over aluminum?

Re: would like to see some pics of rear mounted fuel tanks
The 2wd has a crossmember where the tank goes that needs to be removed. The ECE tank includes a new crossmember that bolts between the rear frame horns and creates a 3-sided box for the tank to mount in.

Re: would like to see some pics of rear mounted fuel tanks
Stainless is stronger than aluminum, but that's my opinion. If you feel comfortable with an aluminum tank in a potentially precarious location, by all means use it.
