broken motor out, summit crate in

so after a short 1500 miles with the rebuilt roller cam original sb350 going out the new to me summit crate is in. Swapped the TH350 and added a TH400 TCI Street Fighter behind it.

Soon as it starts raining we plan on going into the broke motor and hope to find a minor issue, get it fixed and look for a old chevy truck off CL to drop it in. I really want a 4x4 truck. Anyways thought I would post a few pics. I hope tomorrow we have it fired up as we finished the little things today. Will need some cleaing and dress up work to get to how it was, look wise that is. I like clean stuff!
Havent decided if I want to put the black valve covers on too!

the broke

the new to me summit, needs some cleaning now

Re: broken motor out, summit crate in

itg runs pretty darn good other than the diveline vibration.. happy with the power she has... better than the previous motor, which leads me to believe there definatley was an issue with that motor...

Looks Good. Why is the Driveline vibrating? According to the weather reports you might get to check on the broken motor in a little while. lol

Re: broken motor out, summit crate in

yes, weather going to get bad soon so I plan on taking the valve covers off, the oil pan and start looking into the motor that went south! This used crate seems to run pretty darn good..... when i swapped the TH400 in I had to find a drive shaft from a factory TH400 truck and had a combination joint to mate to my rearend. Other than that the length is right.... so I have this vibration when driving now..... has to be the drive shaft, carrier bearing (out of balance ect)

See your from FF, cool. Very close

Re: broken motor out, summit crate in

I have a video of the other motor running and during wot... I will take a video of this motor too... basically the other motor was bored .20 over, had a roller cam from howards, very small rv cam. stock heads, and the same edelbrock 1406 carb and dual plane intake with a TH350... it never ran right and we found out that the person who built it didnt install a thrust button so the cam was walking... could never time it and higher rpms it ran like ****! developed a nice little rattle internally!!!!

So this motor, is a summit 4 bolt main, 350hp/401tq. it has 10.5 compression, mild cam, 202-160 heads. I also have a HEI with 345/42 weights. I swapped the torker II manifold that was on it for the dual plane and edelbrock 1406 and up graded pulley and balancer set up I had... I also installed a tci th400 street fighter behind it...

it has alot more power than the previous motor and seems to run better too. So far I am impressed.

Once I figure out the vibration i will post video
