Anyone running the CPP master cylinder/ proportoning valve?
Ok, so i ordered a CPP master cylinder and proportioning valve for manual disc/disc brakes. It leaks out of every orfice!! And i can not for the life of me find an adapter for the back port. Has anybody had this issue or one similar?
Im a firm believer that CPP now has the worlds most terrible customer service and dont even want to call them because i now know after researching other threads, that many other people have had somewhat similar issues, and is an uphill struggle and not worth the stress and fight. Any ways im done venting, I'm looking for a painless solution to have no leaks and to get my truck with front and rear disc brakes going down the road, what are my other options?

One thing that we all need to do is give our feedback.
Make it vocal for the sake of others. I also read lots of disappointments with Cpp, and so I avoided them. You can get their parts from other vendors - vendors who have a reputation of good service. Here is a forum where you can give them your review: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...splay.php?f=26

I would send it back and get a refund. Then go to your local auto parts store and get a manual master cylinder for a '70 Corvette. For a proportioning valve a Wilwood #260-11179 is adjustable so you can fine tune the rear brakes.

trying to keep things in a possitive atmosphere helps termendously!
Just to clear things up, i just need a proportioning valve for the rear correct?

Re: Anyone running the CPP master cylinder/ proportoning valve?
No. Both the front and rear brakes go thru the proportioning valve. The Wilwood one I mentioned above has an adjustable valve for the rear brakes only. That is often times helpful when dialing in a 4 wheel disc setup. You could also just use a fixed disc/disc proportioning valve. I just think the Wilwood unit is a good choice.

Re: Anyone running the CPP master cylinder/ proportoning valve?
Chev and Captain are both right.
There are two different types of valve: a combination valve (includes a proportioning valve as part of the assembly) and a plain proportioning valve. The only reason that the front and rear lines both pass through a factory style or aftermarket combination valve is for sensing variable brake pressure. There is a shuttle piston in between the front circuit and rear circuit chambers that gets shifted if you lose either pressure in either the front or the rear circuit. On later model trucks this is wired to a light on the dash. The proportioning valve section of the combo valve only applies to the rear circuit. The front feeds straight through. So technically you don't have to use a combo valve. Plenty of folks use just a dedicated single circuit proportioning valve, with adjuster, on the rear circuit only. I have no love for CPP either after some less than satisfactory parts and service. However I do have a complete booster, master cylinder, combo valve setup from CPP and never had a problem with it. Those inverted flare fitting do need to be tightened down nice and tight though. Your brake lines see very high pressures.

Re: Anyone running the CPP master cylinder/ proportoning valve?
I had the CPP proportoning valve. It also leaked from the front bolt (no line is supposed to go in that spot). Just replaced it with another from summit racing..

Re: Anyone running the CPP master cylinder/ proportoning valve?
What parts needed for a power setup using front and rear discs? Would the same prop. valve be used with a different master? If so, which application? I have a 60 front / 14 bolt rear combo on a '72 Jimmy. Thanks so much for the help!

Re: Anyone running the CPP master cylinder/ proportoning valve?
The Corvette master cylinder may work good for you, but for many it doesn't. It just doesn't have a large enough bore for the typical D60 front calipers and the C20 calipers typically used on the rear disc conversions. You might take a look here......
http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174038 It's a pretty long thread, but there is some good info in there. You will need either a fixed disc/disc prop valve, or an adjustable one such as the Wilwood one I mentioned above.

Re: Anyone running the CPP master cylinder/ proportoning valve?
I am doing a manual disc/disc setup on my truck with wilwood d52 fronts and stock d52 on the rear. I was at the parts store today and noticed that a 70 vette master was 1.125 bore . Is that correct ? I thought that would be too big for a manual setup.

Re: Anyone running the CPP master cylinder/ proportoning valve?
Was that a manual or power master for the Vette?

Re: Anyone running the CPP master cylinder/ proportoning valve?
With the dual piston Wilwoods up front and the D52 's on the back, that 1.125" bore may work just fine. I have not installed that master, but it seems like those calipers should absorb that volume of fluid.
