Have you ever spent too much on a "had to have" part or accessory?
I'm sure we all have stories about spending too much on a part or accessory that we couldn't live without. I just spent over a hundred bucks of a license plate frame, yeah, a license plate frame, old school "keep on truckin" frame still in original 1971 package, fiercely fought over on fleabay with 41 bids, most in the last hour, now the buzz has worn off I just realized I paid that for a license plate frame, not a set of mirrors or a go fast part, but it's gonna look awesome around my Black and Yellow California Plates when I'm done. This truck addiction knows no limits. Let's hear your stories, I'm sure I'm not the only one that's done something like this, include any stories about going the extra mile for a minor improvement or change.

One word "Porterbuilt!" An essential part of building my dream truck. But not easy on the pocketbook
 Worth every penny though.

Bought my truck in 2001. In 2003 I bought my Had to Have ECE rear mount gas tank for 695.00 and duty and taxes and it is still in its original box on a shelf.

I bought a set of those cheap air horns that play see the USA in your Chevorlet. Paid $125.00 for them. Not worth more than $30.00 probably but worth every penny after my dad herd them.

I have a real sweet fancy alarm system with electric door lock poppers, even has a push to start button that lights up. Ended up making a kill switch out of the neutral safety switch so I don't think I need the alarm....yet.
The problem with the alarm was I had no place to mount the start button without drilling an extra hole somewhere.

I am usually a very shrewd buyer, but when I want something to complete a project or to get the look I want... Watch out pocket book, I am gonna dump some money.
 My latest over paid part, were a set of tow hooks.

Like other have said all my Porterbuilt stuff. Although, I don't think I've overpaid for any of it considering the R&D, fit and finish, and second to non customer service, I do have alot of money wrapped up into it. However, I feel it's worth every penny and makes me "happy happy"!

Perhaps my NOS GMC grill which set me back $800. At the time I thought the reproduction grill would be a pile of crap and turn to rust within a year. Lo and behold it looks brand new after five years (with very few miles) and as good as the NOS. So the NOS sits in the basement until I rear end someone.

I dont do Ebay, but I have been searching for a set of keep on truckin license plate frames. I prefer the one that has yellow letters and the keep on truckin dudes on it.
I say your a pretty lucky guy =) Wanna trade for a Bonneville Speed Week frame????

yup
last year I found a 79-4X4 Jimmy with a plow 800 I owned it,delivered plans to pull the 350,blah,blah...didn't happen oh still gotta tell the wife about that one Jan 2012 found a 79-4X2 Jimmy "only 5000" too much kinda regretted it, Feb there it was again "only 4000" used car lot,bent fender Sold,wife not impressed bout 1000 for exhaust,fuel parts fast fwd last weekend,we are driving she says she can't believe how mant people ask/look at this truck,are they really that rare? Without thinking I blurt out,yea hard to believe we got three of them eh,she mumbles well we gotta put this one away soon. Not sure what she heard,thank you Flowmaster!

does the whole truck count? when my engine blew a rod, i could have just replaced the motor. instead, its been 4 years of interior, straightened sheet metal, and suspension. and it still aint done.

Door poppers on my s10. Worst decision ever. Look awesome at a show, but when you are actually doing work they are the biggest pain in the arse imaginable...
Also I can't figure out for the life of me why some of you guys pay $120 for NOS or original tow hooks... Just not my thing I guess

........I wondered if I was spending too much on the new 33" Michelin AT2's I ordered for my DD. .... then I saw them mounted and decided it was the exact right amount.

Haha I just bought tires too. Almost did the GG AT2's but decided at the last minute I could save a few bucks if I just stuck with Cooper cobras. My cousin's farm truck uses them, so as far as I'm concerned off road tires aren't necessary

Dual Quad Carbs. if i was to look back and do it again....I would NOT.
The carbs cost too much and a single carb is better.. Oh well. It looks cool as Hell..
