which frame?
I have been looking at swapping a 67-72 body onto a newer truck, and I am wondering what frame would be the closest in length to a long box. I can weld and have basic fab. Skills. I have heard that all frames from 60-87 were the same, but i thought it was just 60-72.
Thanks, Justin Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: which frame?
63-72's had the same basic frames (minor differences where some holes/mounts were located.
63-87's had the same basic front suspension set-up. The frames changed beyond the front cab mounts. 88-98's are completely different. It's easier to swap the later drivetrain into the earlier truck vs. swapping the body onto this chassis in most situations.

Re: which frame?
The reason for the swap would be to get four wheel drive, so i can drive it in the winter. How hard would it be to swap a 4wd front end into an older truck? Assuming it is a leaf spring rear.
