static drop, tranny question...
Hey all, I did a static drop roughly 4"/5" about 6 months ago. pretty happy with it except I'd like to go an inch lower in the front.
That's not my issue though. I have the stock 305/350 driveline in my 86 2wd swb. when I lowered it, we noticed the driveshaft yoke went almost completely into the trans tail leaving very little clearance if any... My trans over the past 2 days has completely crapped out on me. We did a rebuild on the tranny about a year ago (6 months before the drop roughly). has anyone else run into any tranny issues with a static drop. could the yoke being against the sunshell have caused this? thanks!!! |

Re: static drop, tranny question...
How did you lower the rear? Flip kit? Aftermarket spring perches?

The driveshaft will slide in some when you do the drop but it shouldnt bottom out.
Did you install the flip brackets with the centering hole to the front?

Re: static drop, tranny question...
700r has been in the truck for 4 days, roughly 160 miles on her so far no real issues. she is leaking alittle from the tail but I think I've done enough research to remedy that.
Has anyone had an issue or know of a kit for the speedo? Mine was mechanical with the th350, the 700r that we put in is fly by with a straight gear. I was told to put my 350 speedo housing in the 700r but the gear on my 350 was splined.. just curious if anyone else has run into this? also, I'm thinking about doing the vacuum lock up kit. any horror stories I should know about? thanks! |

Re: static drop, tranny question...
When I lowered mine, I removed a smalll amount from the driveshaft and ahd the rear yoke rewelded on. I could see that there would be an issue with the clearance of the output shaft and the dirveshaft.
