Fuel pressure regulator question
Rookie question as I don't have much experience w/ electric fuel pumps. I noticed yesterday that the regulator has a leak, I can't really tell what part it's coming from.
I want to pull it but don't know how much fuel I can expect to come shooting out if there is pressure built up. Any steps I need to take before I remove it? Thanks! |

Re: Fuel pressure regulator question
Any is too much. That's too much of a fire hazard to risk.
Check to make sure it's the unit it's self and not the fittings or connections to it though.

Re: Fuel pressure regulator question
It's definitely not the bottom fitting but may be the top. How do I drain the line to pull it if need be? That's what has me confused.

Re: Fuel pressure regulator question
First chance I've had to get under the truck since I noticed the leak. It seems to be leaking from the regulator set screw and lock nut. I pulled them out, cleaned the threads and put it back in and it still leaks.
Time to just replace it? Teflon tape is on the fittings coming in and out of the regulator but this part doesn't look like it came that way and I don't want to half ass it if replacing it is the better option. |

Re: Fuel pressure regulator question
It sounds like the diaphragm inside the regulator is leaking. Unless it's rebuildable you'll need to replace it.

Re: Fuel pressure regulator question
Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I don't know much about the electrical stuff as I've never had one before.
I'll pull it and replace it this weekend. |
