Anyone go from 6 lug to 8 lug?
I got a chance to get an '80 C20, BB, TH400, 16.5's, and a tilt column. But the 8 lug hubs kind of give me pause to do it. I want to upgrade the '70 C10 (and it needs it), but is this a good swap? I don't think the mechanical aspect is too trying, just- do I need 3/4 ton stuff under my 1/2 ton?

I would rather do a 5-lug or 6-lug swap.

Re: Anyone go from 6 lug to 8 lug?
I'm going to do the swap, but I'll change the spindles out for 1/2 ton stuff. Now, 5 or 6 lug hubs- there's always a decision to make. The donor truck is going to get parted out- the bed & cab go on a '79 3/4 ton I put an engine in a while back. The 454 will await a Chevelle to drop into.
I don't see any advantage, for my intended purpose for the truck (daily driver & mule for motorcycle hauling) to go 6 lug or 5 lug. I'm not lowering it, or hot-rodding it. Fifteen inch tires will do just fine, 16's could also work. I'm going to change the gearing anyway, so the rear axles will just end up the way they ought to. Still mulling the options.
