Hi...look what I just got...

Hey Guys,

I am new to this forum...and just wanted to say 'Hi'. I've always loved these trucks and I recently just found a real nice 'survivor'...a '72 LWB, 350/350 C-10...it has great patina and just needs a few little touches.

I found this truck on ebay and actually flew out to Kansas City and drove it back to NJ! It ran great and got about 14-15 mpg on the way back! Gotta love these trucks!

I'm probably going put a little smaller tires on the front and lower the truck just a little...probably just drop spindles on the front and maybe take a little coil out of the rear. Also thinking of converting it to propane...I run a pulling tractor the runs on propane and I really like the way it runs...engines really like the propane.

to the board. Looks like you have a nice driver there. Just as a heads up, the rear coils on the '67-'72 GM trucks are tapered on both ends so they can't be cut unless you have a spring shop close to you that can re-bend them. Drop coils are available.

Hey LckDoc, yeah, that what I meant by saying 'taking some coil out'...I should have said drop coils. I was looking at the ones from Early Classic...are there any others out there that you would recommend?

I have never used any of the drop coils. I made some 2" lowering blocks for a couple of my trucks out of 2x2 1/4" wall square tubing. You have to get 2" longer "U" bolts to do it that way.

I'm sure others will chime in that have used the different length drop coils.

Thanks...I was thinking about lowering blocks as well. I've only had the truck a week...I want to get a little smaller tires on the fron first, then I'll see how much I want to drop the truck.

Hey thesledhead, yeah, I'm impressed by the amount of info on this site. I've been working on a '72 Peterbilt 359 this past year, and there is so little info on the internet about them, it is silly! I guess old truckers haven't discovered the internet yet...lol.

Hey Ghostryder, Thanks! Yeah, I was really impressed...granted, I wasn't really on it that much, and it was all highway miles. But I have been driving it back and forth to work this week (about 28 miles one way), and it still seems to be doing pretty good.

Hey Billet, Thanks, yeah, you see fewer and fewer of these trucks around here. Here is another view...you can see a little more 'patina' on this side. And that I need to do a cab corner and rocker panel on this side...lol

Hey thesledhead, Yeah, thankfully, I discovered Courtland Truck Works in Cali...they have been awesome to deal with...the old truckers, not so much!
