porterbuilt/Fatman Fab/Art Morrison
Getting prepped to start building my 59' longbed. Which set up would be the best to go with for a bagged set up? How is the handling compared to coil overs? Lots of body roll?
Porterbuilt, Fatman, and Art Morrison all make set ups or whole frames. Just not sure what direction to go. |

Re: porterbuilt/Fatman Fab/Art Morrison
I would rec. Porterbuilt or Art Morrison.
I don't know what Fatman is building lately but I've heard some scary stuff about the way they re engineered the Mustang II suspension & about the cheapass under-strength hardware they provide. I haven't run any of this stuff but from what I've seen... Porterbuilt is the way to go. To me, there isn't really even a "close" 2nd |

Re: porterbuilt/Fatman Fab/Art Morrison
Do some looking on here. I would look real hard at porterbuilt, no limit, and scotts hot rods. All three are on this forum and provide excelent after the purcase support. Take a look at the guys using nates stuff, what rob is offering, and talk with justin (scotts). its a lot of money whatever route you go.

Re: porterbuilt/Fatman Fab/Art Morrison
I guess the hardest thing for me is I have no place to build it and although I can weld some I am not comfortable cutting and welding on the frame. Thats why I was considering ordering a whole frame. Not sure what it would cost for someone to do the framework, I thought by the time I paid someone to put the porterbuilt suspension on that I could order a custom frame and do the swap myself.

Re: porterbuilt/Fatman Fab/Art Morrison
The cheapest after market frame I've seen advertised is about $8K, and there's more to spend to even get it to a roller. Scotts and Porterbuilt both have bolt-in setups which would be half or less than that. You might think about one of those if the welding is the only thing that you don't want to do.

Re: porterbuilt/Fatman Fab/Art Morrison
I really like the way the Porterbuilt set up is the best. Any idea what I should expect to get someone to install the front/rear suspension and have my truck as a roller with no engine?

Nathan at porterbuilt is had to beat when it comes to customer service. I can't say that about the others but i know first hand with Nathan and he is super to deal with, and the best part is he has some really nice stuff. Good luck either way.
