Question, 67 1/2 ton 4X4, short, step**pics**

Are they hard to come by? did the 6 cylinder model's have the same running gear as a V8? In other words, will a V8 stress the 6 cylinder running gear?
Thanks

All the drivetrain (transmission/transfer case) would be the same for 6 & 8.

I think just the engine and like engine crossmember are the only things different.

Re: Question, 67 1/2 ton 4X4, short, step

Yeah, the 292 has a unique engine crossmember. The 250 just uses different mount towers off of the same crossmember as the V8.

Getting it today,eh? I can't wait to see the pictures I know you have to show if you ever want to return to this board again and not be shunned ...(No,seriously). Short Stepside 4wds are just plain too dang cool!

Yeah I can't wait to see some pics. You never know, maybe you'll end up liking that old 6. I know I sure did when I had my 67.

The ol feller already has a V8 but the vin shows it was born with a 6. I was just wondering if the drive train would hold up....there is lots of redneckin mechanic work that's been done to this old guy

not really sure yet, its still on the trailer. I need to get it back to the shop and crawl around and ck it out. Sure would be nice to restore it to original, except the motor, I'd stay with V8 I think.

Nice find you got there. Looking forward to what you got planned for the old truck. I just acquired a 69 shortbox stepside myself. Was about a 20 hour drive one way to bring it home. How's the interior and what did it come with for options?

I don't blame you for asking a lot of older cars a ton of things was different between a inline 6 and v8.The truck looks pretty good for its age,Did you knock on the cab corners and rockers looking for thick bondo?

Re: Question, 67 1/2 ton 4X4, short, step

Sorry missed this,

nice score on the truck! The things we go thru haha.

I think I might just fix it up a bit, if its the real deal that is. located a nice 67 step bed for it. The cab is rough and custom, not good Hard to read the glove box spec sheet. The front end is all cobbled up and I would like to be sure the truck was born right. (4X4)
I'll post some pics

Cab corners and rockers are pretty much shot, it would really need a new floor to do it right...arrg

Did you buy that truck in Raton, NM?
I stopped and looked at it a couple of months ago.

It was pretty rough!
Thing is tho, you have a good start for a ssb 4x4.

They are getting harder to find.

I can't remember if the frame had been cut down?

Have fun with it.
