Re: 13k original miles!!!

Seems kinda odd,why would you need new brakes & calipers with only 13,000 miles????

Possibly from sitting and he needs it to be safe since he's selling it.

Still curious about the pads,Why would they need replaced?? If it sat that much I could maybe see the rotors rustic a bit,but the pads should be fine.....

Re: 13k original miles!!!

Looks like a inch of bs. 13kwould have original tires and mirrors. Don't think stainless mirrors came with painted bumpers. Either way prob just a well kept truck with 130k

Good point about the mirrors too, probably were white, same as bumper. My 80 C20 has white mirrors & bumpers. Still seems odd alright....

That's kinda what I was thinking myself. I am not to sure though. A few things could have been changed. Just seems like it would be cleaner with that low of miles but who knows!

Re: 13k original miles!!!

Wouldn't be surprised if the truck sat for a long time and the brake fluid was waterlogged and they got a nice surprise when they pressed the pedal. I would have replace the pads too, they are dirt cheap for a good modern friction and you don't get the asbestos dust like you would from the OE pads.

The Holley 4 barrel doesn't make sense though. A totally gunked Q-Jet of that mileage could have been brought back with a dip and a gasket kit, nothing more. Could be the typical "Quadrajet sucks" ignorance you find everywhere or the owner didn't want to deal with the rebuild.

It's either a 13K mile truck that someone was turning into a driver without care for originality, or it's a 113K mile truck someone is trying to make a fortune off of. Tough call without seeing it up close.

I will say that the looks of the drivers side of the seat and the seat belt do support the low mileage claim.

Re: 13k original miles!!!

My seat and belts look just as good at 170k the add. It's still a base model truck. I bet the engine is dirty like a 130k engine

Re: 13k original miles!!!

A good friend used to be the service manager at a GM dealer( Newfoundland), rust was so aggressive that they would replace rotors and pads on any vehicle that sat on the lot for more than 90 days. Don't know what the situation is here but Ive seen them replaced with 20 miles on them

Re: 13k original miles!!!

without seeing it in person, i'm a bit skeptical. the brakes should'nt need changing, but ok-safety or whatever. the tires should be original, unless he's got them stored away. my buddy bought a set of bfg mt's in 99, exploded his tranny in 2000, truck & tires sat till 2010, now tires are on my truck. 13 yr old tires with about 8k, not a problem.i agree with INSIDIOUS 86, a look under the hood & under the truck would go a long way. check the pedal pads, worn-it's a miler, yes they can be changed, but most people dont think to

Re: 13k original miles!!!

My grandpa had a 77 that he bought brand new just like that. Same interior and everything except his had a straight 6. My dad has the truck now and it has over 100k but the paint still shines. Just has small pin hole in the front fender.

Re: 13k original miles!!!

Just lookin at the bed from that picture (which isn't a very good shot to go off of, but still) it looks pretty clean to me. The tailgate doesn't looks beat up. I would think after 30 years (most of which was sitting) that tires would be pretty dry rotted and need to be replaced....

But, like said above, it could just be a well kept truck with 130k on it...

Re: 13k original miles!!!

Whatever the circumstances, $6,500 is way too much to pay for a 1/2 ton base model truck!

My bed is just as good and the truck has at least 108k on it, could be 208...

You can set my truck on fire and roll it down a hill,
and I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe de Ville.

Re: 13k original miles!!!

is there a funny gap at the top bezel to pad?
pass side door panel looks dried layering
yet seat looks ok,could mean seat cover
the squish in the side of the front bench? 113,000
is there a dent pass door?,or reflection
it's a nice truck, and you would get that here....
13,000 mile,mint here,could go for $16,500.00

Re: 13k original miles!!!

Yeah i think 13k is a tall tell also,The paint looks kinda faded or dull to me like its been in the sun a lot. Most super low miles trucks like this i have seen look like they was built yesterday and shine a lot better everywhere.

Re: 13k original miles!!!

Sounds fishy to me too... Anybody near there that can do some investigative reporting? Check the pedal pads.... I bet they're worn about 113k worth. I know you can get replacements but no one ever does.
