Transmission throttle linkage clip

Hello,

I've been reading on this forum for about a month now. I purchased a '72 c10 and am working on small things here and there. We are friends with a hot rod/kustom shop down the street, and anything I can't handle they usually help us out.

My transmission linkage cable was not hooked up to my carb at all when I got the truck. I purchased the bolt needed to hook up to the carb, but the plastic clip on the cable itself is cracked on one side so it falls off as soon as I let off the accelerator.

anybody know where I can find JUST the clip? I've got a lot of slack on the cable and could cut it off and remount it. I also don't know what it's specifically called, so maybe somebody could help point me the right way.

if I need to post a photo of the part let me know and I'll go snap one later or tomorrow.

thanks in advance,
-Alex

dang, really? I went to the advance down the street and they weren't too helpful... tried to bully me into buying a $60 cable when I didn't want to, treated me like the idiot that i know i am.

There's an o'reily's a few miles away and those dudes are super helpful, i'll give em a whirl.

thanks!

Mine was actually a bolt. But I got it from advanced. I took
Them outside and showed them and the guy knew exactly what
It was. It came from edelbrock and it was 10 bucks.

Re: Transmission throttle linkage clip

I ordered my bolt kit from Jegs. I got extra clips online from a transmission shop.

Ok, I'm confused. There's a tranny cable that goes to the carb? What does it do, control downshifting?

I don't know everything about trucks so I couldn't tell you if
Every vehicle has it, but mine does and yes, I'm pretty sure
That's what it controls.

Yes, Mr -B, If your truck has a 350 turbo trans, it has a kick down or downshift cable. When you apply throttle to a certain point, the cable pulls on a valve inside the transmission and causes it to downshift. On a 400 turbo trans, this is controlled electrically by a switch mounted by the gas peddle.

700R's also use a cable but it controls all shift points related to throttle position.

Hope this helps
