Powdercoating E-brake assy, hood latch ect

Any of you have have been in the same place, what did you do to paint or powdercoat these parts. They look to be assembled with factory rivets. Should i leave them together and powdercoat as they sit? Sand blast? If i do take them apart, what do i use to rivet them back together. Thanks

i don't think it would hurt to paint or powder coat them. the e-brake cables should still work fine painted, hood latch also.

Im just wondering if it would be best to take ebrake pedal assembly apart or leave it together. and if i should take it apart, what do i need to use to put it back together

What if you could acid dip it? Leave it together and use meratic acid to clean it up. I've used it to clean surface rust off parts before and seemed to work well

Thanks guys. I will do just that. Sandblast them and powdercoat as they sit.

Now to decide if it should be gloss or semi gloss black.

Re: Powdercoating E-brake assy, hood latch ect

ask this guy - he has a powder coated ebrake assy for sale on the parts board: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=555489

Also saw one on ebay recently, but it was pseudo-chrome powder coated - looked horrible, but the point is that others have p/c'ed the ebrake assy and apparently it works just fine. Try the op of the link above and ask if he disassembled, etc if you'd like to know for sure.

I am going to do semi gloss on most of the parts i think. I will eventually have my frame blasted and paint/whatever it in a semi gloss color as well

Re: Powdercoating E-brake assy, hood latch ect

Local powdercoater just had a bunch of 67-68 parts dumped on him. Grill trim, door hinges and latches, pedal assembly (stick), throttle linkage, engine brackets and pulleys, windhield wiper mechanism, hood hinges and latch, batt box, steering column mount, ebrake handle. The guys bill was over $600 all silver/polished aluminum look with clear. He said he took all of it apart to blast and pc and would just like the parts out of his way.
