Re: Backspacing

I like a 40 series tire, especially up front for static dropped trucks.
I would use a 5.5" BS on the front 20x8.5 wheels.
And a 5.5" BS with the wider 71-72 housing, for the rear 20x10 wheels.

Re: Backspacing

Keith knows his stuff with backspacing and making sure you won't rub and having a great stance. I also agree with the 40 series tire.

Re: Backspacing

I wish they made a 42.5 series tire.

I like the 40's but I just think they're a bit short sidewalled unless you have your truck bagged. I have 255/40 on the front for my stepper and they just look to small to me. I will probably put the 255/45's I have on the front (move the tires) and get a bit bigger for the back on my step.

Dont misunderstand me .. I like 40's, but the truck has to be really low. Just my .02.

Plus, $4k+ in wheels and tires I don't want to dent one on a pothole or something. .. so I went with 45s.

Haha! Me too! Would be perfect combo!

I like the 40's with the 4.5/6 drop but your right you gotta watch for potholes. I like them with 20's but with a smaller tire the taller walls look way better.

I personally like the "look" of a 40 series tire in relationship to the 20" rim.
To me it looks correct in my mind.

But the bigger issue is being able to turn and drive it with a static dropped truck.
There is no adjustmjent in ride height, like on the bagged trucks.
I guess you could pull the inner fenders,... so you won't have to worry about "buzzing" them on the big bumps in the road.

Total tire height is my concern on a static dropped truck.
The taller the tire,... the more wheel backspace you need to turn them "inside" the fenders.
