DIY exhaust system
Looking for exhaust pipes to fit my 1964 c10 with 292 engine - Need to replace from manifold back to muffler - Previous owner replaced from muffler back.

My 305 V-6 comes to $540.00 plus shipping, unless I did something wrong. Do we get a chose on the materials used? Although they are nice, the local shop can do it MUCH cheaper.

I dont know, you'd have to call them. As I said, haven't had opportunity to use them yet. Motor rebulid/swap is several months out for me. Did you choose stainless at that price?

Exhaust: It has a single pipe exhaust that begins at the engine with the original "ram horns", trails through the inside of the frame and exits out of the back. If you like, you can remove the "ram horns", media blast them, then coat them with something from here: http://www.eastwood.com/underhood-engine/exhaust-paints.html Then replace the bolts and reinstall. Cheaper than headers and less prone to disintegrate over time. These engines seem to perform better with 3" pipes with a crossover, not 2 or 1 1/2. It does not have a catalytic converter. They weren't required until 1986, but this also means that it emits more carbon monoxide than newer model vehicles. Do not start the car in a garage and leave it running without ventilation! It will kill you, unlike newer vehicles that practically force you to suck the pipe to get a headache. TIP FOR NEW EXHAUST: WHEN YOU HAVE THEM DONE, SPECIFY THAT THEY DON'T INTERFERE WITH THE SHOCK TRAVEL . A popular option is just an X pipe and dual Flow-Master quiet mufflers.
