is it possible/hard to do - 5 to 6 lug pattern?
I have searched the forum on the subject of changing from a 5 lug to a six lug, but am still not to crystal clear on if possible and what exactly it would take and difficulty of task. I will gladly take any info you can share on how-to for any part of the task and/or any info on pt#s / vendors for any particular parts.
Truck is an 85, 1/2ton, 2 wheel drv, 305/th350. 1 ¼“ rotors. It has 2.5 drop spindles already installed. Here is the reason for my quest: First I will say that I really like the ralley look but I have a set of 20” DOAs toe tag wheels/tires collecting dust in my garage that I took off my 01 suburban but they are 6 lug pattern hence the question on if they would fit a 6 lug pattern of a square if I can practically retrofit my current set up. I believe these wheels are hub centric, would that play a role in them fitting a 6 lug pattern if I changed it. Don’t get me wrong, I am not stuck on these wheels it’s just that I have them and thought “how hard would it be to change the patter”. I have tried to sell them but it’s not working. I don’t want to spend a lot of money since it’s a kind of “well I got them, why not see if I can make them fit” Thanks for any info on the task or on if the wheels would even work. |

im not 100% sure but on 88-98 trucks the differential from a 99 to 06 is direct fit for the rear n the front u just buy the hubs for a 2500 6 lug that's not a 4x4 n the 6 lug rotors n ur set...ive done my share of research for this myself

Re: is it possible/hard to do - 5 to 6 lug pattern?
Keep back spacing in mind. I've seen people install 6 lug wheels off 99+ trucks with adapters, and the spacing ends up just right. This is because newer vehicles use much more backspacing than older ones.
If you convert your truck to 6 lug, there's a good chance the wheels will be really sucked in too far, and you will need spacers anyway. Adapters work out well because they fix the bolt pattern and spacing issues all in one shot.
