Dropped turn radius

How do you guys who have lowered your trucks so much turn without scraping the front tires against the fenderwell. My 66 gmc has 28" tire diameter and 2.5" drop spindles with 6 cylinder front springs. It rubs occassionaly when turning into my driveway. How do you handle this when you lower it more......?????? Re: Dropped turn radius

Run a narrower front wheel,... or run a wheel with more backspacing.
(a shorter front tire will help also)

What size wheel do you have up front?

Or alter track width in addition to increased back-spacing vs switching to a narrower wheel.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Dropped turn radius

You could go with narrowed Porterbuilt arms, which can be made to bring them in 1" per side.

steer with the back...

but that's me.. I don't like the look of tucked in wheels.. they need to be flush with the lip.. form vs function.. If you don't care bout the looks do what they said lol

Lots of people that "care about the look" don't like the wheels flush w/the lip either....

Since the original request was about tires scraping on extreme dropped trucks, increasing back-space, narrowing track width, or narrower wheels are the most common options.

Re: Dropped turn radius

A narrower wheel with the same tire might not get the job done. A narrower tire may do the trick on your current wheel though. More backspace may create wheel clearance issues. Check before you buy.

Re: Dropped turn radius

not worry about it.

thats what i do. sometimes it'll push the fender well lip down, i grab the hammer and put it back up. whast the worste that happens? take a chunk out of the tire?

or i reach down "hit" the switch to air it up, turn, then lower it down.

now if i can figure out a way to keep the lug nuts from hitting the fender lip.. that really sounds wierd
