Re-inforcing TA x-member?
I want to run my exhaust through the ta x-member. Do I really have to reinforce the holes with pipe?
I was looking at this and it looks like I don't have to do this. http://www.classicperform.com/Store/...ck/6372LDL.htm Thanx in advance Dano

Re: Re-inforcing TA x-member?
I'm going to run a 2 1/4" exhaust pipe.
Nate's crossmember is nice, but unfortunately not in my budget for my truck. I'm also trying to do my own modifications, rather than going the buying/bolt-on route. The only rivets I want to remove are the TA mounts and then flip the mounts. Dano

Re: Re-inforcing TA x-member?
The aftermarket x-members are thicker @ .250" vs the stock stuff. I'd reinforce things & no 90* edges when cutting to prevent future stress cracks. Not necessary to utilize pipe but some plate or similar would still help.

Re: Re-inforcing TA x-member?
I just put this on the custom mods thread.
I'm doing the same thing and figured if I cut the pipe long enough I can tie them into the front of the c member just for lil'added support and a place too put some hangers later on still havent decided on 2 1/2 or 3" exshaust yet but my tubes are 4 1/4" so I'll have plenty of room either way

Re: Re-inforcing TA x-member?
Here's mine 3" I'd pipe with 2 1/2 exhaust. Thers a hanger right where it goes through the x member to keep it from hitting
