Need help to ID front suspension clip

Can anyone tell what this frontend might be? Would there be a vin number located some where that would help identify it?

Re: Need help to ID front suspension clip

I'm guessing maybe a camaro subframe. look in this thread and compare. Here is a pic from that thread. look at the upper control arms, see the hole where you can reach the upper shock and the way the inside of the control arm curves??

Re: Need help to ID front suspension clip

It sure looks like that may be the match. Are there any vin numbers on these camaro frontends that may help me pin down the year or range of years. That way if i need part i can give the parts house the correct application to look up.

Re: Need help to ID front suspension clip

Looking at the nuts on the A frame shafts I am thinking that it is a later front end than what the rear axle came out of. I think they used a nut and lock washer up through 72 and switched to the lock nut like that in 73. For a while in 73/74 some less than smart GM purchasing agent bought A frames with nuts that didn't lock and didn't have lock washers and the nuts backed off the shafts. I made a lot of money in that period taking those nuts off Pontiacs and putting the correct lock nuts on. The 71 Chevelle spindles were a two piece thing too with separate caliper brackets or backing plates for drum brakes along with steering arms that bolted on.

Re: Need help to ID front suspension clip

If I went to get parts could I just use a 73-81 Camaro application?
