Hard Gas Pedal in 74
Changed from straight six and 3 speed on the column to 350 with 700R4 transmission. The gas pedal is very hard to push. We have used different springs on carb, new cables (both gas and transmission kick down). We thought it might be in the transmission as it had a full shift kit. We were going to check the springs in the transmission (found out the transmission was a mess). Ended up rebuilding the transmission. Still have the problem. Also had an angle on the cables going to the carb. Raised the mount so they are now straight. Does not feel hard at the carb. At a loss for ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Hard Gas Pedal in 74
Maybe the cable itself is kinked or rusty
Never mind I read over the fact that you had already replaced them.

Re: Hard Gas Pedal in 74
try making sure that the cable isn't kinked then shoot it through the end of the housing with WD40 or a lube

new cables, but you might have kinked them with motor swaps?

Re: Hard Gas Pedal in 74
Thanks for the responses. We have put a couple of new cables on it since all the changes. It did not help.

Can you post pictures, Something might jump out. I worked on a V8 to I6 swap a number of years ago and I don't remember having to change the cables.

Re: Hard Gas Pedal in 74
I swapped out my Qjet for a 2bbl Holley and I'm having the same problem. Gas medal was nice and smooth before swap and now it's like stepping on a brick. Doesn't look kinked or anything but the bracket is mounted like 1/2" higher due to the adapter.
