Somehow I messed up my wipers. They won't turn on

My washer pump wasn't working, so I bought one from the junk yard. Scored what appears to be a replacement, with a date stamp of 2010. Well, got it installed, but the thing was stuck on pumping and pumping when I pushed the button to activate the washer.

Today, it was wet and snowy, so I had to use the wipers. I turned them on without activating the washer pump, but the pump just kept pumping and pumping nonstop. So, I unplugged the power to the washer pump. Now, my wipers won't turn on at all.

Any ideas how to get my wipers back to working? At this point, I've given up on this pump. I'll likely find another solution, like maybe one that has the pump built in to the reservoir. I checked the fuses, and nothing is burned out

I'm wondering if you may have pulled the wiper plug loose when you unplugged the washers, or the wire from the washer plug to the wiper plug may have broken off.

I don't know if this thread will be of any help or not but you can check it out...

Thank you! You ended up being right. There is a smaller plug to the side of the washer pump that had come unplugged when I unplugged the larger plug that goes into the top of the washer pump. Here's my problem though...now my wipers work, but I'm back to having the washer pump being on full time whenever the wipers are on. And, the puzzling thing, is that I don't even have the larger power plug plugged directly into the top of the washer pump. How can it be getting power if it isn't plugged in?

So, how do I fix this, just take out the pump, and buy a used one of an S10 or whatever, that has the pump inside the bottle?

some times you can just let it run and it will finally stop pumping....if it does stop never push the wiper knob in again....then get an after market add on bottle with pump...

I don't think it is getting power. It works off of the wiper motor.

I'm guessing that when you put the new washer pump in it you put something together wrong. They look pretty simple but if you don't get the timing right on them they can do some screwy things.

How does one adjust the timing?

Too involved to explain on here. Especially for a two fingered typer..... Best thing to do would be to look at another wiper assembly.

Try this way.

copy the url to your browser and open it. Once the image appears on your screen, right click and save to a place you will find it.

Any problems, just say so.

I see you figured out a way to make the link work. More than one way to skin the cat.

Happy Holidays
