Leaf Springs: Re-bend or Replace?

$800 for new, plus tax and shipping.

$500 for re-bent, includes hardware and paint.

Is there any life left in the old springs or is the re-bend a sucker's bet? An extra $300 won't break the bank, but the cash could be used elsewhere.

The vehicle is a '59 panel.

thanks

Re: Leaf Springs: Re-bend or Replace?

do you have any local spring shops?(maybe big truck service) they are usually pretty reasonable and deal with more than big trucks( just gotta ask).
I have no expeirence with truck leafs(never had bad ones) but I had a set of nova springs rearched and one broke.
the guy said there was a chance of it happening but it was my call.
I ended up buying a complete new set with all the bushings hangers and hardware with them silly clip nuts they have in the spring pockets.
I got it all from the same shop for $260 and the guy didnt charge me for the failed rearching job.I couldnt beat that price anywhere.
I've been back too that shop time and time again for their great service and prices.(I just had two extended ubolts for lowering my truck made there for $14)
after I completed that job the owner of the nova couldnt believe the ride differnce with all new springs and shocks under it.

Must be a lot of chain pullin' going on. Every website I've been to that has parts for Chevy trucks is in that price range.

If you have a better source I'm all ears.
