53 3100 5 window/s10 swap
Well Ive gotten enough info off of this forum to start my own build so here we go. So far my plans are simple on this one just to get it running, driving and stopping. Plans are for a 383/400 combo with a rowdy cammed, steel headed smallblock. Some 20/22 staggered wheels. Stay tuned.

This is what Ive got going on so far. Getting read to build the mounts and get the cab secured, then start on the front sheetmetal. Got the wheels where I want like them, centered the cab. Need to shorten the radiator support. And yes this is just a mock up cab, its beyond hammered....

your cab does not look that bad, and looks like you have a good start so far.

It doesnt look bad, but its really not worth fixing. Sometime in its life it was hit on the left rear of the cab, and the owner tried to beat it back out but he messed it up pretty bad. the door jamb is off pretty good. The floor on the pass side is ate out so bad its made the cab support weak. I can fix it, and probably will but its gonna take some time lol. Im more than likely gonna just cut the whole thing out and bend up my own floor and a trans tunnel. Cause its gonna eventually be channeled over the frame. Im in desperate need of a bed box, I got rear fenders but no box......

Anyone ever considered re using the factory rear mounts for the cab???? Its looks like I can possibly make it work fairly easy and I got a killer Idea on how to make it look better....

Yeah its completely doable unless I can find a better cab for less than Ill be out in fabin hours lol Honestly its really not that bad, just wrinkled up pretty good. But yeah the jambs okay cause the door still shuts, its just off about 1.5 inch.
And yes the nv3500 is a great trans, the 93 and up are, dont ever buy a nv3500 out of a 23 and before, they are trash. The newer ones have bigger bearings, more heavy duty internals.

Looking good, I am building the same truck. You might want to slide your cab forward about an inch because one the engine and tranny are in, the truck will sit lower. As S10 suspension is supressed the front wheel will actually move toward the rear about an inch. I read that here on this site and followed that set up and it is coming out great.

i dont no anybody that reuses the cab mounts that u showed use just make your mounts an drill threw the floor board an bolt them like the front ones r, i would suggest to put a piece of plate under the cab an weld it in for strength then drill threw that to bolt the cab to your new mounts

Did ya'll hard-mount your cabs, or did you put some type of shock absorbing material in between the frame and cab?

Yeah Ive seen a lot off ppl plate the floor of the cab. I just got a new job at a pretty badass place here in Plano Texas, so its gonna be a month or two before I start buying stuff for it. The current floor is ate up pretty bad, so Im kinda gonna do a whole one off floor for it with a trans tunnel. Ive seen some and I like them.

i just used the rubber pads between the front cab mounts and yes i did reuse my stock cab mounts on my 49/ s10. just level out the cab and drill new holes in the frame and bolt em up
