Re: 1957 hood rockets
I added myself to the Filling Station's "wish list" for a set of hood rockets. They said they will email me when they are available. I asked if they had any idea if or when they might be available but they didn't say.
Anyone else on the list? |

Re: 1957 hood rockets
I wanted a set of hood rockets bad and was willing to pay the $500 or abouts that they usually cost, but then I saw a truck at a show with them on it and it changed my mind about them. I had only ever seen them in pictures but when I saw them on a truck they looked too tall and didn't really look as good as I had previously thought. Not knocking anyone's truck that has them, just don't think I want them any more.

Re: 1957 hood rockets
I think they look good with the chrome grille/buckets/bumper. With a contrasting color choice for truck/grille I feel they would take a viewer's eye away from the front and move it toward the hood and windshield.

Re: 1957 hood rockets
I think if they had been more like a 57 Chevy car, recessed into the hood ridge so not as tall, they would have looked better. Someone here on the forum used a set of 58 Oldsmobile hood ornaments and I thought they looked better than the truck hood rockets because they seemed to blend better with the hood.

Re: 1957 hood rockets
Thanks for remembering Russell. Here are some pics of my 58 Oldsmobile hood rocket hack. Just did a quick search and found one on Ebay. They are out there, be patient and you will get a good deal.

Wow! Those Olds rockets do look nice. I just found images of the AD GMC hood rockets. Very neat.
