68 k20 saved from the yard
hey everyone havnt been on since i was in highschool but im sure some of you will be happy to hear i rescued a 68 k20 from the junkyard down the road.
as for some you will be sad its gonna become a mud truck. Only thing that was in good shape was the transmission, transfer case,front/rear axles. beleive it or not iv gotten 8 inchs of lift from making boxes out of scrap and flipping shackels and what not. tell me what ya think so far? Re: 68 k20 saved from the yard
thanks! i was at the junkyard scoping around and found it pinned between two cars no hood and no bed so i went up and asked if they had a title and got her.
the bars are exhaust tubing and im gonna use expanded metal to make doors and have an off road looks cuz the doors were smashed pretty bad like i said due to the truck being pinned. im kinda sad too cuz i kno it being a mud truck im probly gonna destroy it but the bodys to far gone to want to sink money into |

Re: 68 k20 saved from the yard
They aren't all worth restoring, and it's far better turning into a mudder than being crushed. Anyway it's yours to do as you want, I'm glad you're saving it!

Re: 68 k20 saved from the yard
I see no issue with turning it into a mud truck. At least it's being used and not sent to China.

Re: 68 k20 saved from the yard
Looks like fun to me. Is it gonna be a driver, too, or a purpose build bogger? Keep us posted.

damn that looks like it will be some fun! I agree with the above post at least its not going to china....yet.
we had a fun spot(mud hole) here years ago but they turned it in to a sancuary/walking trails too veiw the wildlife most people forgot about the fun times we had there and the "wild life" we had getting muddy there.

Re: 68 k20 saved from the yard
It'll be nicer to work on, too, if it's painted up and pretty underneath. And I'm thinking you'll need to be working on it, too....

Re: 68 k20 saved from the yard
I think it's going to be cool. Since the bed is gone, are you putting a flatbed on it?

Re: 68 k20 saved from the yard
im gonna make the bed out of exhaust tubing and make it look like skeleton of a blazer just on a longer wheelbase with the fuel cell spare tire tool box and two seats for occupants, my main reason i want to build it is for this place called powerline by west virginia its like a 3 day event for mudders on like a 1000 acre of off roading mayhem
anyone know if theres a power steering box set up i can use with it that will bolt in, if not i can make something work |

Re: 68 k20 saved from the yard
If the title is clean and frame isn't rusty you may want to buy a body donor 2x4 truck in the future and restore this. You could make money if you got a clean donor body with minimal rust. They only made 3000 or so k20s that year so its pretty rare. There's always 73 to 87s cheap to use as mud trucks and you'd get power steering and a tighter turn radius with open knuckle.
