What radiator have you used on your s10 AD truck projects.

What radiators have you guys used on your projects. I have built a s10 swap before and used a 67 mustang radiator I believe. But I had to have the lower snout cut and moved over to get clearance. Just curious if there is anything else out there. It would also be nice if there was a trans cooler built in as well. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I plan on using my stock radiator. Looks to be a 4 core. I am still in the construction/experimental stage. but will keep an eye on the gauges once I get it going under its own power.

I'm using Speedway Motor's 19x22. Sorry no pics, I don't have it installed yet.
$115.99 No trans cooler though. I'm gonna use an external.
Inlet/outlet set up for SBC.

Re: What radiator have you used on your s10 AD truck projects.

Since I am running an LT1 I needed the inlet and outlet reversed from the normal locations for a small block so this is what I used

Champion Cooling
Product Code: CC180
70-80 Land Cruiser radiator.
Core Dimensions: 17 1/8" high x 19 1/2" wide (3 row core)
Overall Dimensions: 21 3/4" high x 22" wide
Upper inlet: 1 1/2" located on drivers side.
Lower outlet: 1 1/2" located on passengers side

The nice thing is the bottom tank is shallower on the driver side allowing me to clear the steering box.

I'm using a '64-66 Mustang 3 core V8 radiator and shroud. Fits great and keeps my 350 cool.

Re: What radiator have you used on your s10 AD truck projects.

Ok thanks for the suggestions. Maybe I should have went into detail a little more. I am going to be running a LS series engine. I need both of my hoses on the same side. The passenger side of the truck. Does anyone have an LS in their truck and if so what radiator did you use. I found one through speedway I think I am gonna give a try. It has them both on the same side like I need just no trans cooler. I guess I can put an external cooler on. I found a couple of those I like as well.

I used a 19x22 in my last build on this truck, with a 4.3. I'm in the process of putting a 5.3 in it right now and also exploring radiator options. Have you done any mocking up yet? Are you planning on buying a new thermostat housing? Also you'll want to look for a radiator with the smaller, LS sized necks (1.5 "lower, 1.25" upper).

Here's a mock-up picture with my old 19x22:

Here's how the original water neck orientation:

Haven't really done any mocking up yet. I have had the whole front end hung on the truck and fitted but I dont have any radiators to test with. Everything I have measured a 19x22 looks like my best option. Whats the deal about the thermostat housing. Are you talking about buying one that you can point in another direction or something?

Yes, I've been doing a little searching on that, straight out is an option. See the picture above.

There is a cheap one on eBay $30something that uses a SBC thermostat...but that doesn't work well with the LS waterpump and water will bypass the heater core. There is another I've found that uses the correct style thermostat, that's the one I'm looking at.

I see what you are talking about now. Thats tight. I am not sure what to do now. I still believe I need both snouts on the radiator on the passenger side. I guess Im gonna have to look at mine a little closer and figure that out too. Thanks for the heads up on that. Your motor appears to be sitting in your frame alot lower than mine too. I raised mine a good bit for oil pan clearance because I didnt wanna change to the ls1 oil pan. Mine is high enough I am gonna have to figure out remounting those fender to firewall braces.
