Need engine help, modesto area!

I have a big block that I'm trying to get driveable. I just put the gas tank in the bed and want to get the motor going so I can drive it to work ( where I have a welder to start body work. But, the engine is running super rich. It's got an edelbrock carb on it now, not sure of the size, and a Holley red fuel pump. Anyway, anyone near me have any ideas or want to swing by and help me out!?
