Flaming river column help

I am in the middle of installing a new tilt column on my truck and need a little advice. On the stock column there is the little nub under the dash where the stock column rests onto. But on the flaming river column there is nothing for that nub to go into. Did you guys cut your own hole in the column or did you just cut the nub off? Any advice would help.
Thanks
