Smile Wtb aux. Fuel tank wiring and knob

Need to buy the wiring harness from the factory aux. fuel tank to the dash, and the complete knob assembly. Would like wiring harness to be complete and uncut, dash sticker too if available. Willing to pay your asking price for wiring, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mike.

Re: Wtb aux. Fuel tank wiring and knob

Darren, the dash deal isn't what I'm looking for. I have never seen this type of set up, looks aftermarket to me. But the switch on the floor looks like the factory type. Might be interested in that, if it can be removed without damaging it. Have you thought of a price just for that? Mike.

Dan, that would be great. Most helpful if any of them are complete with the dash knob. I need the complete set up to make mine fully functional. I appreciate the help. Mike.

Mike

I will also shoot a picture of a new valve the I found. I had to buy two, but only need one. Also, I understamd that the small block had 5/16 fuel fittings and the big block had 3/8 fuel fittings. I shoot yopu some pics, maybe later today. Thanks, Dan

Dan, sounds good. I have a big block, so should be 3/8. Mike.

Re: Wtb aux. Fuel tank wiring and knob

Mike here are pics of what I have. The wiring harness is complete down to the shrouded wire protector at the fuel tank sending unit. The connector is off of it, but you can't see that connector when installed.

The valve is a Velvac Valve, which I believe were the original suppliers of the valves to GM. The picture of the valve with hose barbs is for my ride.

Also, I included a pic of the brush guard if yours has beem removed. The pricing is as follows: Switch and harness $85 New Valve $50 and brush guard is $40. LMK Thanks, Dan

Nice package setup - it took me a while to piece all these together.

Re: Wtb aux. Fuel tank wiring and knob

Dan, I come up with $175. Does that include both valves? I'll take everything as shown in pics. Do you have that small plate that tells which tank you're on? Also do you happen to have the dash sticker? If not that's fine. Please include shipping and if you do pay pal. If so I can pay for this today. Thanks a bunch, Mike.

Re: Wtb aux. Fuel tank wiring and knob

good thread with good pics - not to hijack, but I have a question...

Does a dual aux tank truck (i.e. TWO saddle tanks in addition to the cab tank) use the same cab floor sill selector valve as a factory aux tank truck (i.e. just the single left side aux tank in addition to the cab tank), but with just one of the inlets plugged??

Several threads on this subj previously, but that was one of the questions I had that remained.

Understand the dash knob is to change the selection of which tank's fuel level is displayed on the gauge - but does the dash fuel level selector knob work for a dealer-installed DUAL aux tank setup?? (seems I've only seen them on the factory installed 2 (cab and left saddle) setups).

Thanks for any input - this is a good reference thread for pics of the harness and valves.

Re: Wtb aux. Fuel tank wiring and knob

Those are some interesting questions! The eschuteon on the floor valve has main/right/left and will turn 360, while the guage will only read main and left SO would the right and left tanks cross over and draw from each other as the 18 wheelers do with saddle tanks. Only one would need a float. I am including pics of a valve that I believe came from a dual auxiliary tank truck/mobile home. At first it looks like the lower body is the same as the upper valve, but look close the lower body has no lower threaded opening. Bronze 72 super has expressed interest so he has first dibs. Thanks, Dan

Dan, price on this? Also was that eschuteon in really bad shape? I don't have anything so something is better than nothing. I'm willing to take just about anything I like to repair things. Thanks Mike.

The eschutchon is cracked in half. I'll send it with the valve $45 plus the ride. I'll see if I can get it in a small flat rate box. LMK. Thanks, Dan

I am attaching pics of the area that my valve (72 C20 bench seat) was mounted and the cab floor of the 72 C30 bucket seat mounting (left and right tanks). The single tank is mounted at the second sill plate screw and the dual tank at first sill plate screw and turned (see mounting holes). Also, a pic of the pieces.......

Maybe you can barter with Darren MagooGardner for the one he has pictured!

I have a valve from a 72 factory aux tank truck (driver side saddle tank) that has an extra hole capped where an input line from another tank could be attached.

The dash switch will let you toggle between two inputs - I believe you'd need a switch that handled a third to have a setup for the dealer/aftermarket dual tanks.

It's interesting that the floor escutcheons were identical for the factory aux tank and dealer installed dual tanks save for the latter having "right"

Re: Wtb aux. Fuel tank wiring and knob

Any chance in selling this? Or do you happen to have a good used original? I'm going to get the other one from Dan, but I have two project trucks in the works. I don't have anything at this point. Thanks Mike.

Re: Wtb aux. Fuel tank wiring and knob

Dan, I'll take it. Please let me know total and I'll pay like I did before if that's fine with you. Just inquired about another eschuteon for the floor switch, so I'll see how that goes. I think I can make yours work. It's a start! Thanks Mike.
