Christmas "Loot" Thread - Let's See It Boys, Including OT Stuff!

As the title says, let's see what Santa brought for your '47-'59!

Yes, OT stuff is cool too, but let's focus on the truck stuff.

No truck parts or gift cards for truck parts but the kids pooled their money and bought me a new Cannon EOS Rebel T31 camera and shocked the daylights out of me.

That will get used for taking photos that get put on here along with car show photos and sunrise and sunset photos.

Sort of not OT since it is going in my shop, a 1970s Coke machine. Not as cool as the ones from the 50s, but several less zeros were needed to acquire one. It still looks awesome and fits into my garage rather well as the 56 Chevy is 26 years older then every other vehicle in there. I don't have any pics of it yet, but I was giddy when I first plugged it in, put a nickle through it and a pop came out!!

I'm just hoping that I'll learn enough on how to use it by the Portland Roadster show to be able to take photos that don't have so much reflection from the lights in those buildings. With my little point and shoot Nikon the reflections from the overhead lights really ruined my photos last year. You can see it in this photo.

yeah, those lights would be a pain. looks like no matter what angle you try the lights are in the picture. I was going to say try a Circular Polarizer Filter but with so many lights in all directions i don't know if it would help much.

learn what the numbers in the bottom of the viewfinder mean {aptrue, shutter speed and iso }and shoot in the automatic modes for a while and watch what the camera does and before long you will know what works and what dosen't

Been years since I used my Minolta SLR but I remember having filters to knock down that type of reflection. Also worked for water shots, think they were different polorization filters (like high end sun glasses). I did a brief search and lots of threads on the Rebel filters came up. Have fun.

yeah that is the same filters we use now for digital SLR cameras.the ones i use screw into the end of the lens and rotate to adjust polarisation.
I always keep a uv filter on all my lenses all the time Just in case!UV filters are cheaper than a lens to replace. the lens has the diamater of the filter printed on the front{Canon lenses} circle with a slash and ??mm there are 2 different kit lenses sold with the t3i 18-55mm uses a 58mm filter and the 18-135 uses a 67mm there could be som dealer kits too.

Well, I remember what Drill Sergent Nickelberry (sp?) said when one of the guys in our basic training platoon said when one of the guys in the platoon said he was signing up for Airborne training. There were only two things that fell out of the sky= Bird poop and fools. Having walked away from two helicopter crashes I'd say that isn't totally the truth though.

Patch panels for my 53/54 AD corners. Everything but the cab is 54. The cab is a 53 and the truck is registered under the cab tag.

Just dropped another 3k on glass and a few other finishing details including these custom gauges from Classic Instruments.

I had the speedo converted to KM since I am in Canada. Turn signal and high beam indicator added too.
