I'm too scared to look!

Hi, everyone. Can somebody help me identify what I found in my oil pan?
I hope I attached the image correctly. I have a 71 gmc 454/400. Well, Im not sure if I have a 454 anymore after this tragedy...I got the oil pan off this morning and along with these two pieces there were many more smaller ones in there with it. also, after removing the intake I found a lot of metal scattered around the lifter valley...I am probably looking at a complete overhaul/rebuild yeah? Well, I got so bummed out about it that I couldn't bring myself to look up under the crank. I will tomorrow but until I do, can someone give me some advice??? Obviously, I am a novice so help is appreciated!

Re: I'm too scared to look!

both are piston.

left is piston pin area and the right is the lower skirt..

hopefully the rod didnt take out your block. but your in cali, so a bbc in the ole parts yard wont set you back much. plenty of cheap rebuilds in the last couple of years on super chevy/ popular hotrodding, google them, and for pretty cheap you can have a rebuilt bbc with around 500hp...
