K5 Blazer grille questions ???

I have an 82 K5 Blazer that I'm restoring that will be done in a couple months.... my questions in regards to the grille is this.... Can I use a grille and dual headlight bezels from an 85-87 with no issues? I'm trying to change from the vertical rectangled grille on my 82 to the more horizontal rectangled grille from an 85-87.

my current 82 grille....

the grille I want from LMC truck's catalog...

Re: K5 Blazer grille questions ???

Yes but you will need the lower filler piece between the bumper and grill for the year grill you install. Part #8 you will need it for 83-87

I just called LMC truck and they couldn't tell me what part that was in the pic in their catalog.

What filler piece are you talking about? Is it available from LMC ?

The top connects the same but the lower connects to a filler strip? Is the filler strip an easy swap?

How hard are they to swap? What all needs to be done to remove my 82 and replace with an 85 panel?

The filler panel is easy to change but it is a part painted body color. As far as the grill, the 82 grill has 5 screws on top ans 3 on the bottom and it slides right off. the only difference in the 83-84 and 85-87 grill is the bottoms have more screws, thats the reason for the different filler panel. I think they made this change because of the added weight of the blinkers mounted in the grill from 83-87.

The actual LMC part# is 38-7402, the illistration is #8.

Re: K5 Blazer grille questions ???

I have blinkers in the bumpers ( see my first post in this thread ) so they should weigh the same. I just got the Blazer painted but my body/paint guy has extra paint so he could match it.... How hard would it be to swap it out if my Blazer currently looks like this?

Is it a few bolts holding it on the ends by the fenders? It might be the right time to do the swap if I choose to change the grille to a better looking design.

Re: K5 Blazer grille questions ???

The filler panel only has 2 bolts on each end and 1 in the middle, very easy. Are you not near your truck? If your truck is currently apart like the pic you can easily see the bolts.

Re: K5 Blazer grille questions ???

It's currently in storage but I'll be getting it out in a few weeks to finish it up before spring... I appreciate all the help. It seems like the right time to do the swap if I decide to make the change.
