Engine Brackets - CAN'T FIND EM !!!

Team,

Been looking for weeks and can't seem to find the parts I need. Im hoping someone has a source or maybe has them laying around...

We're putting a 72' SBC into an 87 Chevy R10 2wd. We removed a bad 4.3L.

I need the engine/frame brackets. The 2 metal brackets that go from the frame to the crossmember & have motor mounts bolted to them.

I bought a set on ebay several weeks ago but they dont seem to line up well... I'm thinking they are from a 4x4 or a BBC- Im not sure if that even makes a difference. Its almost like they aren't tall enough & the lower holes don't line up with the crossmember.

The ones I purchased look like this:

From what I understand, theres a set of factory brackets that will bolt right up to everything with no modification. I would prefer to get those instead of ruining these potentially valuable brackets trying to make them work.

Can anyone help me out?

Any information is greatly appreciated- Im coming up empty everwhere!!

Thanks.

There is definitely a difference between 2wd & 4x4 because the crossmember under the engine is significantly different. However, the brackets you pictured appear to be the correct style for a 2wd.

As far as SBC vs. BBC goes, I believe that they use the same brackets on the frame but the mounts themselves just bolt into different holes on those brackets.

That almost sounds like you got some brackets off an older (pre 73) truck. Seems like I remember reading somewhere that the 73-up frame rails are slightly taller than the older ones.

BBC vs SBC same mounts. Do you have pics of the crossmember?
The frame bracket pictured looks to be correct.

Here's the bracket bolted in (with another kind of mount)

Re: Engine Brackets - CAN'T FIND EM !!!

Alright... Had a chance to upload these.

They just don't seem to fit very well, the holes arent lining up properly. I tried them both ways, left & right... If I line up the top holes on the frame- the bottom holes arent close & the bracket seems like its floating.

If I line up the bottom nice with the crossmember, its like the top lip of the mount isnt long enough to reach the holes...The bottom never seems to feel right & stable. I dont remember if theres matching holes in the crossmember for both the bottom holes. Its looks "off" to me.

My brackets look exactly like yours..
Ive been convinced that I got the wrong set and can't seem to find "the right set" anywhere..

Im wondering if my crossmember is different or Im just being an idiot.

Thanks.

As far as I know they are all the same. The pics I uploaded are of a 1980 C10 that came factory with an inline 6. I do not know if the brackets were changed or not.
What do the V6 mounts look like?

Re: Engine Brackets - CAN'T FIND EM !!!

*****TAKE A LOOK AT THIS MADNESS****

I knew I wasn't going crazy.. These brackets just dont seem like they will fit without drilling holes... I took a lot of pics & I just dont understand what the problem is.

Truck is an 87 R10. We're putting a SBC in. Originally came with 4.3L

The mount brackets just dont seem long/tall enough, If I line up the holes on the crossmember- it only goes halfway on the frame rail, not even close to bolting up.

If I line up the holes on the frame rail, The bottom holes of the bracket dont reach the holes on the crossmember. I could drill new ones, but im not sure if it would be too far away- Plus.. WTF! These are supposed to bolt in.

Take a look please! These photos show the brackets in different positions, Look closely!

I think I might have some here. I'll have to look for them this weekend when I'm off.
