2.5 drop w/ 275/60/15

When I drop my stock '70 Sub w/ 2.5 spindles, will the 275/60/15 on 15x8 rallys be a problem?
Thanks!
Doc

I don't think it will be a problem with the 70's. The 73-80's are a problem due to the wider front path and the design of the fender. I have 245/60R15s with 2.5 spindals and stock springs which are a problem. Anytime the frontss weighs down due to dips in the roads the tire scraps the fender. I need to replace the stock springs with new ones or stiffers ones.

Spindles require disc brakes.

I'll be using the '73-up 2.5" drop spindles for the 1.25" rotors as I have already rebuilt the front suspension w/ polygraphite-bushed '75 disc brake components.

I used the '75 a-arms & spindles, installed new bushings & '75 spec tie rods, centerlink, etc. All I used of the existing '70 steering was the steering arm, although I've heard you just need to use the tie rod ends when doing the spindle swap.
Good luck!

lowering

Just completed installation of CEE lowering kit and 2.5 spindles with 73 front lower control arms and tierods. 70 6 lug differential. with 275 /60r15 all around 15x8 front 15x10 rear. the problem i had was rubbing on the driver side rear fender wall. Tried to install wheel spacers but to no avail. I ended up cutting about 3-4 " just in case with a sawsall. One thing i would have done was install cnothes ,because now it bottoms out.By the way it is a 1970 suburban

I just lowered my truck 2.5" front, 3" rear, yesterday.. Used springs and shocks. I have 15x10's at all 4 corners with 275/60's. No rubbing at all. Even lock to lock. Here's a pic... just to show off of course!

One question of my own.. The new rear coils are quite a bit lighter duty than my old ones. I will still occasionaly need to use this truck as a truck.. towing a horse trailer or hauling stuff. What company makes a rear air bag helper kit?

If I remember correctly they're 4" back spacing.. but they may be 4 1/2. They fit perfectly with drums but now just barely hang outside the fender with the disc conversion.

dropped suburban

I replied early in the post and was curious if you plan on installing a cnotch? Well i am in the process and am having a little trouble . Brothers states that you might need to modify it. By the way it is a bolt on notch .

15X8 ralley's have a 5" bs with the 5 lug pattern, thats why they rubbed. They are set in too far. About every 15X10 has a 4" bs which is why they fit. A 6 bolt ralley also has a 4" bs. So if you leave the ralley's you will have a little rubbing, but shouldn't be too bad. Only on tight corners I would think. I had a 3" front drop with 275/60's before with 15X8 custom wheels which had the 4" bs with no rubbing ever.
Hope this helps
