Difference in cab mounts post 1962

I've been looking for new cab mounts for my '62, but I have noticed that the polyurethane mounts are not said to work for 60-62, although the rubber mounts are supposed to work from 60-66.

The mounts look quite similar between the rubber and the poly also, so I was wondering what the difference would be that would make the poly mounts unusable on my '62. It seems rather strange that rubber mounts would be interchangeable, but the poly mounts would not.

Can I use the poly mounts, or should I stick to the rubber?

I wondered the same thing about going to poly. I was told by an older gent to stick with the rubber mounts because it will be less noisy and more comfotable ride.

Well, I've never really found that noise and comfort thing to be true, but I have found that rubber mounts don't last near as long as poly mounts.

Re: Difference in cab mounts post 1962

I got into this when I put a 62 cab on my 63 frame. The difference was the size of the bolts used. It's been a few years, but I remember the bolts that came with my poly mount kit would not thread into the captured nuts on the 62 cab. Wrong size. I had to go down to the hardware store and buy a couple of proper sized bolts.

Let me go look through my pictures....

This is the closest picture I can find in my files. What I was showing here is that the 62 cab mount holes are in much different places than the 63 frame mounts. I wound up just drilling two new holes in the cab to line up with the frame stands. In the back, I seem to remember the lined right up but that is where the threaded holes in the cab were different size and needed the different bolts. It all worked though.

Interesting. You would think that the bolts in the rubber kit would be the same size, unless they give you multiple sizes.

Size: 35.2 KB The two bolts for the front cab mounts in the kit are 1" shorter than the OEM 60-62 bolts...
